Yet another good news for tech lovers, particularly Android community. The world famous computer maker Dell has unveiled its 10-Inch Android based Tablet device in China. The sales will begin from Friday. Analysts and tech critics expect that Google Inc.’s Android based Dell device may pose a big challenge to Apple Inc.’s iPad. It may take more time for Dell to introduce this little tiny device in other markets, analysts feel.
As of now, Samsung Electronics and BlacBerry’s RIM offering various configurations of tablets to create a fresh challenge to Apple’s iPad. But, in Chinese market, iPad still remained a market topper.
Dell’s latest 10 Inch tablet, called as Dell Streak 10 Pro and priced approximately at $466, a little below the price of iPad in China.
Dell was already selling 5-inch and 7-inch devices in the China market.
Clearing waves for tech analysts, Dell said, it would use both Android and Microsoft’s Window platforms to take its product line forward. Dell has significant sales and product support network in this biggest Asian market.
Though there is threat seen in the form of attractive Android based devices from Samsung and Dell, iPad still dominates Chinese tablet devices market with about 74% market share.
After China, Dell’s next biggest market would be India, but as of now tablet penetration in this market is little compared with other advanced countries. However, Android based tablets are emerging fast and Samsung is the frontrunner to capture this emerging markets. Many people, attracted with the Android features looking at the price tag and other features on Samsung Tab. Once Dell unveils its Android unit, it will be definitely a bigger battle in India, where the market seems so attractive. All the players, including Samsung, Apple, RIM and Dell are targeting younger generation for their tablet devices as potential customers going forward.
