Hyderabad, April 17: The US Consulate General, Hyderabad and Better Hyderabad organized the second Trash Run to kick start Earth Day events in the city on Sunday at Peoples Plaza on Necklace Road.
The 3-km run was aimed at bringing people together to spread awareness
about keeping the environment clean and doing their bit as citizens towards making Hyderabad a better place.
“The U.S Consulate General Hyderabad is excited to participate in this trash run to take tangible action to preserve the environment,” said Acting Public Affairs Officer Elizabeth Jones.
“We support Better Hyderabad as they motivate people to turn ideas into action and take the initiative to improve Hyderabad. Their belief in the collective power of individual actions is inspiring,” she added.
“Better Hyderabad is a civic movement started in the year 2009. The group took up the task of cleaning up Golconda Fort and was very successful in implementing a lot of changes in making the fort a cleaner tourism hub,” said Sumanth from Better Hyderabad.
He added that Better Hyderabad has now initiated trash running, a concept which involves running for good health and cleaning up the surroundings for better civic hygiene.
