New Delhi, April 4: Public sector Maharatna company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd announced out of turn promotion and a cash prize of Rs. 20 lakhs each for the three ONGCian cricketers, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Munaf Patel for their stupendous performance in ICC 2011 Cricket World Cup.
Complimenting the stellar role played by the three ONGCians in winning the world cup for India, Mr AK Hazarika, CMD, ONGC said “The contribution of Gautam, Virat and Munaf brought the world cup home after 28 years.”
The three ONGCians put up a pivotal display in the Indian triumph at the World Cup 2011. Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli & Munaf Patel all contributed significantly in India’s journey to the finals. And on the day of the finals, all three played outstandingly to fulfill India’s dream to be the World Champions. When needed the most, Gambhir scored splendid 97 runs and along with Kohli provided stability to the innings after the early loss of Sachin and Sehwag.
