New Delhi,: SAS Scandinavian Airlines this week launched its new Delhi-Copenhagen service, the only non-stop route between India and Scandinavia. The new route is a direct result from increased demand from both India and Scandinavia, as corporate links between two regions have increased strongly in recent years. SAS also offers quick and smooth connections via Copenhagen to all of Scandinavia and SAS’ extended home market of Northern Germany and the Baltics, as well as the UK.
“We are very excited about launching this new route, as we know there are strong business ties between India and Scandinavia,” says Lars Sandahl Sörensen, Chief Executive Officer, SAS International. We are pleased to offer Indian travelers the unique and highly-appreciated Scandinavian way of flying, and also being one of few airlines here with a premium economy class, our Economy Extra.”
SAS will deploy an Airbus A340 aircraft to offer best-in-class service to its passengers with 245 seats in three classes: Business Class, with the SAS Business Sleeper seat that reclines into a bed; Economy Extra – a premium economy class with extra legroom and in-flight services, as well as greater flexibility; and Economy Class, which offers all passengers personal entertainment screens.
“India is currently one of the world’s most exciting destinations, for business and leisure travelers,” says Lennart Paulsson, General Manager and Director, India. “Our new route meets the strong demand among Scandinavian customers, particularly since Scandinavian companies have been highly active in becoming established in India, primarily in the northern region of India. This new route is a direct response to satisfy their demands.”
Extending his heartiest welcome to SAS on its launch in India, Ashok Fenn, President & CEO of InterGlobe Air Transport said: “It gives me immense pleasure to welcome SAS in India. We are very excited at this opportunity of working together with SAS again and hope that our collective efforts will establish SAS as a preferred product to the largest number of destinations in Scandinavia.”
The new service will operate three times a week, with a flying time of 7½ hours.
